Research interests are focused on sugarcane functional genomics related to abiotic stress and sucrose accumulation. Published 58 scientific papers and supervised 23 Ph.D. and M.Sc. students. Coordinator of a network of six Brazilian universities aiming the study of drought tolerance in sugarcane. Director of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer, Inova UNICAMP Innovation Agency (2008-2010). Member of the Council for Biotechnology Information (2004 ? present). Member of the biosafety commission of the Brazilian Society of Genetics (2004-2008). Member of the working group on intellectual property in the FAPESP Bioenergy Program (BIOEN).
