Rafael Moreira Claro

Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition at the School of Nursing, Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). Holds a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition from the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas (2003). Earned a Master's degree in Public Health (2006) and a Ph.D. in Public Health Nutrition from the University of São Paulo (USP). Completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Epidemiological Research in Nutrition and Health at the University of São Paulo (NUPENS/USP) from 2010 to 2013. Serves as an ad-hoc consultant for Brazilian research funding agencies (FAPESB, CNPq, and CAPES), and is a Scientific Committee Member in the Nutrition Area at CAPES. Participates in research and innovation projects in collaboration with national and international institutions. Currently works as a research scientist at NUPENS/USP and as a technical advisor to the Brazilian Ministry of Health.Has experience in Public Health Nutrition and in Surveillance and Monitoring of Health Risk and Protective Factors, with a primary focus on: dietary intake and its determinants, health surveys, and monitoring of risk and protective factors for non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Member of the research groups GEPPAAS (UFMG) and NUPENS (USP).Served as Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Nutrition and Health at UFMG (20202022) and is a permanent faculty member in both the Graduate Program in Nutrition and Health (PPGNS) and the Graduate Program in Public Health (PPGSP) at UFMG.
