Marcela Chiumarelli has a bachelor's degree in agricultural engineering at the University of Campinas (2001-2005). During graduation, she made two initiations scientific, won the XX Young Scientist Award and the Institute of Engineering Award for her academic achievement. She did her master's degree at the Faculty of Food Engineering, University of Campinas (2006 - 2008), under the guidance of Professor. Dr. Miriam Dupas Hubinger, developing research on application of cassava starch or alginate based edible coatings based on mango slices. In December 2011, finished her Ph.D. in Food Engineering at the University of Campinas (2008-2011), whose research evaluated different formulations containing cassava starch and carnauba wax to form edible films and coatings.
