Dr. João Agostinho Machado-Neto graduated in Biology from the CEUSNP in 2009 and earned a Master's degree in Clinical Medicine from the University of Campinas (Unicamp) in 2011, where he also completed his Ph.D. in Sciences, focusing on Clinical Medicine, in 2015. He then pursued postdoctoral research at the Ribeirão Preto Medical School of the University of São Paulo (FMRP - USP-RP) from 2015 to 2017, with a focus on studying cellular signaling pathways in cancer. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of São Paulo (ICB - USP). His research focuses on the identification and characterization of antineoplastic compounds and the investigation of the expression, activation, and function of genes involved in altered cellular signaling pathways in cancer, with a particular emphasis on hematological malignancies. His work aims to deeply understand the molecular mechanisms contributing to cancer development and to explore new therapeutic strategies that could have a direct impact on the treatment of these diseases.
