Abstract

Temperature dependence of the photophysical properties of europium(III) complex with the benzoylcetonate ligand were evaluated. The photostability of the complex and the temperature dependence of the D-5(0) -> F-7(2) transition band area (maximum relative sensitivity of 5.25% K-1 at 303 K) makes this complex promising as temperature probe. The temperature dependence of the D-5(0) -> F-7(0) transition band indicates that the electron phonon coupling is probably the main mechanism operating in the temperature dependence of the photophysical properties of the complex.
