Abstract
The development of integrated analytical devices for diagnostic purposes has advanced rapidly, with particular emphasis on the so-called Point-of-Care (PoC) type devices. The relevance of these systems is based on low cost, efficiency and practicality, combined with speed of diagnosis. Due to the simplicity of handling, can easily be used by non-specialized operators, providing a rapid diagnosis at low cost, without needing laboratory infrastructure for analyzes, resulting in the improvement of life quality. Thus, these devices can also facilitate the diagnosis in areas with limited infrastructure. This project aims to contribute to Brazil to occupy a prominent position in this area, with the formation of human resources and significant scientific advances in the field. Researchers from different areas were gathered for the joint efforts of researches for the development of integrated microdevices analysis systems based on this concept. The purpose of this project is the development of integrated analytical devices through the coordinated work of qualified researchers, who will develop functional materials structured to produce sensors and microfluidic systems, in order to be effectively engaged in integrated analytical devices to be practical, feasible and useful for rapid diagnostic purposes in any needed places.
