Abstract

Herein, we report the magnetically recoverable Fe3O4 nanoparticle-catalyzed synthesis of 2-organochalcogen-benzothiazoles via direct C-H bond chalcogenation. This new approach works under an air atmosphere, affording the desired products in good to excellent yields using benzothiazoles, a half-molar equiv. of various diorganyl dichalcogenides, and 10mol % of catalytic loading. The method is attractive due to the recyclability of the catalyst and tolerance of a wide range of functional groups. (AU)
