Abstract

The geological characterization of geosites is essential in the process of valorization of the geoheritage, as it is the first step to reveal its scientific relevance and to promote geoscience dissemination. The structural and petrological analysis of the geosite ``Boudins of the Camburizinho Islet{''}, in the northern coast of Sao Paulo state, allowed the characterization of important geological features that record the complex regional evolutionary history from the Neoproterozoic to the present in the southeastern Brazilian margin. These structures are related to the amalgamation and breakup of the Western Gondwana, represented by ductile structures from the Brasiliano Cycle in the central Ribeira Belt and the Mesozoic brittle deformation. Field techniques associated with geospatial data acquired by UAV were used for geological mapping, structural interpretation, and development of dissemination products, including a virtual geological tour. These products proved to be highly effective in both scientific and outreach approaches, justifying its selection as a geosite and opening perspectives on its sustainable use on geotourism and education.
