Abstract

Ichneumonidae (Darwin wasps) is among one of the most diverse families of organisms comprising 25,285 described species (Yu et al. 2016) classified into 41 subfamilies (Bennett et al. 2019). Undoubtedly, many species remain to be discovered, especially in the Neotropical Region, an issue hampered because of the few taxonomists and because most of the type specimens are dispersed and deposited in museums outside the region. The International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (72F.4, ICZN 1999) recommends that lists of name-bearing types should be published by institutions that house them; the publication of catalogues containing name-bearing types associated with high quality and definition images further avoid unnecessary movement of these important specimens in long distance loans and foster taxonomic and biodiversity studies. We present here a catalogue for the name-bearing types of Ichneumonidae deposited at the Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales `Bernardino Rivadavia{''} (MACN) described by the French-born entomologist Jean {[}or Juan] (AU)
