Abstract

This paper presents the hardware development and usage of a Distribution-level Phasor Measurement Unit (D-PMU) module for Smart Meters. The motivation to develop this module is to provide a flexible and low-cost hardware platform to advanced monitoring of low-voltage distribution networks. This module allows for the exploration of the phenomena involved in the Low-Voltage (LV) distribution level as well as advanced applications for active distribution networks. The D-PMU is built on a general hardware platform and is able to process single or three-phase measured point-on-wave data. The relevance of the proposed devices is validated under real low-voltage distribution networks. (AU)
