Abstract

Medical images play a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, since they allow the visualization of patient's anatomy in a non-invasive way. With the advances of acquisition equipments, medical images have become increasingly detailed. On the other hand, they have required more computational infrastructure in terms of processing and memory capabilities, which may not be available in hospitals and clinics with limited resources. Therefore, a convenient mechanism for providing a more effective health service is through a remote access system. In this paper, we describe and analyze a distributed system for Web-based interactive visualization of medical volumes. (AU)
