Abstract

This paper proposes a management strategy for a diesel generating set (GS) covering the mechanical part of the system which includes speed and active power control, the electrical part of the system which includes voltage and reactive power control, and the synchronism with the grid. The management is based on a fuzzy PD+I controller structure which uses a fixed controller surface for all fuzzy controllers (FCs). Simulations results for both stand-alone and grid-connected operations using fuzzy controllers were superior when compared to commercial methods (CM). (AU)
