Abstract

Abstract Since the release of the Paulista Curricular Proposal in 2008, the curricular organization of the Paulista education system has been through many changes, with the Secretary of Education of the state implementing many actions to ensure the effectiveness of the curriculum in the school environment. This study aims to analyze the main strategies the São Paulo Secretary of Education adopted in implementing the Paulista curriculum in 2008 and 2020. The data were obtained through a literature review, which included publications regarding the implementation of the Curricular Proposal since 2007, as well as from a doctorate research done with schools of the Paulista education system that investigated the implementation of the Paulista curriculum since 2020. The empirical research was done from a longitudinal perspective, following chemistry professors and the administrators of two schools for five years. The data was analyzed through the Discursive Textual Analysis. As a result, it was observed that the implementation of the Paulista curriculum by the São Paulo State government involved the continuous use of strategies, such as standardized materials, changes in the figure of the professor coordinator, and emphasis on the connection between the curriculum and the Saresp evaluation. In the context of the implementation of the Paulista Curriculum in 2020, the São Paulo State Secretary of Education strategy involved the lack of previous information, bringing an uncertainty sensation and difficulty to the professor’s resistance, besides using the Education Media Center as a curricular guide, allowing a higher level of State control over the educational content offered to the students.
