Abstract

The National Curriculum of Portuguese (PCNLP) suggests alternative ways to standardize the teaching of reading and writing throughout the national territory. So they come to meet expectations of teachers, which cover the contents to be taught, the goals of teaching reading and writing for each cycle, the relationship between teacher and student, and the relationship between teachers and instructional materials. In this research I will be studing the goals listed in that document for the teaching of writting and its relationship with the textbook. For that, I chosed to study the textbooks of the 4th and 5th grades of elementary school, since this period is represented by transition politically, since the initial series are the responsibility of the Municipal Department of Education, while the State is responsible from 5th grade and high school; because students have more subjects and a larger number of teachers. Thus, this present research project aims to examine the proposals for the production of writing texts of the books of these grades, using as a criteria the skills that students should acquire, according to the National Curriculum of Portuguese. I expect to investigate whether the teaching of text production, through this material, brings the knowledge of the reality of the students, or whether those writing activities at school include anaylse the social functions that the texts should have out of school .
