Semiconductor nanostructures with a one-dimensional quantum confining potential profile, such as resonant tunneling diodes (RTD), are highly employed in devices intended for wide industrial applicability and basic science. However, the optical emission of these devices to date has been found in a narrow spectral range dominated by the precursors materials that form them. The opto-electronic functionalization of these nanostructures with emission / optical absorption in different spectral regions is the scope of this project, covering mainly the near and middle infrared regime. The intended results will open up possibilities for large applications of new RTD devices with optoelectronic response in spectral regions that have not yet been explored. (AU)
