Abstract

The mission of the Instituto Agronômico (IAC / APTA / SAA) is to generate and transfer science, technology and products to optimize plant production systems, with environmental responsibility, aiming at socioeconomic development and food security, through research, training of human resources and heritage preservation. In recent years, special emphasis has been placed on the transfer of knowledge generated to society, with emphasis on the provision of technical know-how to the producer, technological varieties packages developed by IAC (1041 developed cultivars of 98 species, 720 registered cultivars, 21 cultivars protected areas), diagnosis of diseases, interlaboratory soil analysis program for agricultural purposes, supply of propagating material of fruits, roots and tubers, seed of IAC cultivars of the grain and fiber chain, and seeds and bubbles of various varieties of citrus protected on the ground, in addition to the training of more than 40 thousand workers on the application of agrochemicals in agricultural properties, among others. In this respect, it is interesting to note that the maintenance and constant improvement of the Internet network of the IAC, or more broadly of its information technology (IT) environment, is fundamental both for the generation of knowledge and for the transfer of the same the society. In June 2018 there are 338 research projects in progress in the 12 Centers, distributed between Campinas, Cordeirópolis, Jundiaí, Ribeirão Preto and Votuporanga, and the activities carried out by these 12 units also occur in several regions of the State of São Paulo and the Federation . These projects represent 40% of all projects underway in the Agribusiness Technology Agency (APTA), which in addition to the IAC also has 5 other ICTESPs - ITAL, IZ, IB, Pesca and Regional Apta. Naturally, this intrinsic characteristic of an institution based on agronomic experimentation, in which regional variations in soil and climate conditions constitute important factors of plant production / quality, requires an internet network capable of allowing communication among all professionals of the institution (to enhance the efforts of knowledge generation) as well as the rapid transfer of technology to society by electronic means. In this way it becomes evident the institutional importance of the IT network of the IAC to maintain the excellence in its activities. For this reason, since 2016, IAC has invested in improving the IT environment by basing its institutional action on detailed planning in 2015. Since then, it has invested in the repair and improvement of the physical part (fiber optics and switches, among others ) and in the improvement / updating of the software for the sake of use and storage of data. The improvements described above are fundamental to ensure that there is no loss or interruption in research, innovation and technology transfer activities. The purpose of this proposal is to continue the restructuring of the Instituto Agronômico (IAC) internet network, a project started in 2015 through FAPESP funding, process 2015 / 15083-4. (AU)
