Abstract
The present project will contribute to the knowledge of singlet oxygen formation sensitized by non-planar aromatic hydrocarbons and to the knowledge of pathways for metabolic degradation of photodynamic therapy (PDT) sensitizers and to the metabolic degradation of natural plant pigments. Both themes are related to fundamental studies of chemical or photochemical reactivity, but at the same time have potential biochemical and pharmacochemical implications. This interdisciplinary project brings together nine research groups with clearly complementary areas of expertise, whose joint dedication to this project will serve to consolidate the strategic academic and research collaboration between the University of Sao Paulo and the Tianjin University.
