Abstract
This proposal takes advantage of the visit of Dr. Adrien Favier to Rio de Janeiro in the occasion of the "4th French-Brazilian Symposium on Biosciences", to bring him to visit the University of São Paulo.Adrien is a CNRS research engineer associated with the NMR group at the Institut de Biologie Structurale (IBS), in Grenoble. Adrien has a PhD in physics, and postdoctoral training in protein NMR at the University of Utrecht. Adrien is specialist in the development of new NMR pulse sequences applied to study proteins structure and dynamics. Adrien participated in the development of BEST-TROSY NMR experiments with the goal to accelerate and increase the sensitivity of multidimensional heteronuclear NMR techniques (Favier and Brutscher (2011) JBNMR 49: 9-15). Adrien created a computational package that allows the semi-automatic implementation of all IBS pulse sequences in different instruments (NMRlib: http://www.ibs.fr/research/scientific-output/software/pulse-sequence-tools). This package was installed in more than 100 academic laboratories in different countries, particularly in the USA and Europe. One of the ideas behind Adrien's visit to São Paulo is to implement BEST-TROSY triple resonance NMR experiments in our instrument, and to discuss the principles of the technique. The implementation of BEST-TROSY experiments will help us to take the most possible advantage of our 800 MHz NMR instrument. (AU)
