Abstract

Book: Production and Processing of Eggs from Commercial Laying Hens, Douglas Emygdio de Faria, Daniel Emygdio de Faria Filho, Mônica Roberta Mazalli, Marcos MacariInitially, I want to record that along with the main authors, there are 60 professionals involved in the 25 chapters of the Book. There are teachers of USP (FZEA, FMVZ, ESALQ), UNESP (Jaboticabal, Araçatuba, Botucatu), UNICAMP, Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG/BH), Federal University of Goiás (UFG, Jatai), Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), Federal University of Grande Dourados (UFGD), Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), Federal University of Lavras (UFLA), Embrapa researchers (CNPSA/Concordia), Biological Institute of São Paulo (APTA), professionals of companies and the productive sector. The target audiences of the Book are teachers, researchers, undergraduate and graduate students, business professionals, productive sector, and egg producers. The subjects covered are the Brazilian Production of Eggs and Perspectives, Myths and Truths about Commercial Eggs, Genetic Improvement and Commercial Laying Strains, and Anatomy and Physiology of the Reproductive System, giving a basic view of the context. The management part is covered in the chapters of Management in the Phases of Starter and Grower, Production Phase Management, Artificial Lighting Programs for Commercial Layers, Forced Molting: Concepts, Traditional and Alternative Methods, Welfare and Ambience, Equipments for commercial laying hens, giving a more practical and applied approach. In the sequence, we have the chapters Nutrition and feeding in the Starter, Grower, and Production phases, Egg external quality, Egg internal quality, Additives, Nutraceutical Eggs: Concepts and new products, Mathematical modeling in nutrition of commercial laying hens, Management and destination of residues, Pest control, Mycotoxins and mycotoxicoses, Health: Major diseases in Commercial Laying Hens, Vaccines and vaccinations, Processing of Eggs in the Farm, Processing of Eggs in the Industry and Legislation applied to the production and marketing of eggs, completing the entire context of the publication. Sure, all the sectors mentioned above will be greatly benefited with all the technical-scientific information contained in the Book.
