Optical gain medium incorporation in semiconductor optomechanical cavities
Abstract
In this proposal we plan to study the fundamental interaction between photons and phonons. By the use of modern microfabrication technique, simulations and theory we expect to achieve strong coupling between the light and sound confined to these structures. Such achievement could pave the way to explore coherent coupling exchange between photons and phonons and to study quantum mechanics within mesoscopic devices. Our approach in this proposal is to create innovative designs and exploring different materials to achieve such metric. Ultimately this could potentially break through existing technological limits and help deliver superior and exquisite photonic devices. (AU)
