Abstract

The aging process of the world population has been growing and in Brazil is no different. According to IBGE 2010, it is estimated that the number of people over 60 years should triple in the next 20 years. With the aging, some natural declines are recognized and are taking a different level of importance in the scope of research, mainly in what concerns the cognitive and motor performance of this population. In this context, digital games emerge as a positive alternative in cognitive and motor effort, providing advances and quality of life, but at the same time there are still few initiatives aimed at the senior user, given the inherent difficulties in the specific development of the needs that this public requires, or in the context of learning skills and digital interactions. Thus, adjusting the expectations of the elderly to obtain their acceptance of digital games as an instrument of social inclusion remains a challenge in the area and, therefore, a field for innovation conducive to inclusion of products in the market, since this portion of the population has recognized participation in the economy. In this sense, the proposal of this project is to develop a digital games platform aimed at the senescent public, especially for the Brazilian population, over 50 years. Portal development will follow the User Centered Design (UCD) process. The development methodology chosen should strengthen the development of games accessible to the elderly user. With this, it is understood that the quality of the proposed games will be boosted along with the user experience. In addition, this project should develop adaptive games that promote the natural evolution of the abilities of the elderly according to cognitive evaluation techniques. It will be developed at least 6 games and the portal to adapt the level of difficulty, according to the user's cognitive profile. In addition, experiments to prove the effectiveness and the exercise of the different cognitive domains before the use of the games and the platform, will be realized. (AU)
