Abstract

The streamer is a marine surface cable, with a buoyant assembly of electrical wires that connects hydrophones, capturing acoustic signals in the water and transferring it to the recording seismic vessel. Multichannel streamers operate with more than one channel, increasing the amount of signal received and therefore the resolution. Multistreamer vessels tow more than one streamer cable to increase the amount of data acquired in one pass. (AU)
