Abstract

The impact of early academic life may affect adaptation to this context as intrapersonal aspects, especially self-efficacy, and possible dropout. The present study aims to test a model for school dropout reasons, including the five dimensions of self-efficacy in higher education, the five dimensions of academic experiences and the characteristics of students. Self-help scale in data evaluation, the Self-efficacy Rate in Higher Education (AEFS), as well as results of Higher Education Dropout Reasons Scale answered by the evaders throughout the school year. The data are collected with students entering the courses of Engineering, Business and Design. The data are compiled and programmed for linear regression and logistic regression. Comparisons between the results of the research and the programs are performed by means of analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results are discussed in the light of the area literature. (AU)
