Abstract

Open abdominal surgeries, called laparotomies, pass through the abdominal wall to treat organs and tissues of the trunk. Mechanizing and standardizing this step may prevent, during healing, risks of infection and late complications of the surgical wound. The parietoscope is a new surgical suturing device to be produced in large scale for use in the closure of abdominal surgery, or any type of surgery that opens the wall in laparotomy, elective or during emergency. The device works in a safe area, facilitates the procedure, saves surgical room time, standardizes repetitive and judicious suture, respecting the anatomy and the physiology during abdominal closure. The parietoscope, because it is systematized and standardized by excellence, should reduce local complications and infections in large scale as it does not depend on human variables. It can be used in the correction of hernia defects following the same principles and for any specialty that operates the abdomen. It is reproducible, and can be used with quality by any user. (AU)
