Abstract
Indium recovery interest is increasing in the last 5 years, mainly due to its economic and strategic importance, and its scarcity in the earth crust. This element can be found in flat panel displays (FPDs), mainly in those devices that employ technologies based on liquid crystal display (LCD). Thus, the project goals are focused in the indium recovery from LCD devices, and the study of reuse the by-products acquired in the recycling process. Besides indium, these devices contain glass and polarizing films, being economically and environmentally advantageous to reuse all components. Therefore, there are several steps to reach an economically viable result: (1) the raw material acquisition, selecting the best path to obtain them; (2) the study of an efficient route for indium recovery and, (3) the reuse of by-products. A business plan will be drawn up with the best results of the research, choosing the most economic and viable way to perform the goal of the project. (AU)
