Maintenance and Improvement of the infrastructure of the Multiuser Centers and Animal Facility

Abstract

With the growing number of researches being developed and the reduction of financial resources coming from the University and the Development Agencies, Araçatuba School of Dentistry (FOA) has encouraged the sharing of the research infrastructure among professors, Research Groups and Programs of Graduate with the objective of maintaining quality and scientific productivity. FOA departments, such as Basic Sciences, Preventive and Restorative Dentistry, Diagnosis and Surgery and Dental Materials and Prosthesis, make available and share the infrastructure and equipment of other laboratories that are in the process of creating the Multiuser Centers. However, frequent and regular use by a greater number of users leads to a rapid deterioration of shared infrastructure and equipment. In this context, there was a consensus between the researchers who generated the "Institutional Technical Reserve to Support Research Infrastructure" (base year 2019 and 2020) and the Faculty Management to apply the Resources in the execution of the maintenance and improvement of the infrastructure of the multi-user laboratories that provide support to the Graduate Programs of the Araçatuba School of Dentistry. Considering the issues raised, the objective of this proposal will be the acquisition of glassware, collective protection and safety equipment, equipment for the production of purified water, equipment for acclimatization of vivarium and experimentation areas, and painting services, in order to recover and maintain the research infrastructure for users, reaching the main research support sites at the Araçatuba Dental School. Five laboratories will be served: Biomineralization Multiuser Center (BioMin); Laboratory of Histological, Immunohistochemical and Molecular Techniques; Applied Microbiology Laboratory; Multidisciplinary Histology Laboratory Professor Emeritus Tetuo Okamoto and Animal Laboratory for Maintenance and Experimentation in Rabbits. Thus, Araçatuba School of Dentistry will be able to maintain and improve its research infrastructure, strengthening research groups and graduate programs and, consequently, raising the level of research to the international standard of publication.
