Abstract

The Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Campinas has two undergraduate and 11 post graduate courses. The Research Committee, through the FAPESP infrastructure project, promotes financial support for the development of research for the two schools of the FCM, medicine and speech and hearing disorders, and also to the two newly created Colleges of Nursing and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Around 100 research laboratories are distribuited in approximately 6,000 m2. The research labs are supported, in part, by the Research Committee of the FCM. Research laboratories include: multiusers and individual researchers and their collaborators laboratories. In 2013, two Cepids were approved, the Obesity and the Brainn, and the Clinical Research Center. The incorporation of new projects and the renewal of the teaching staff creates a substantial demand for investment in research infrastructure. The FCM has its scientific production guided by basic / experimental, clinical and translational research. The maintenance of the animal facilities infrastructure is important for the development of high quality research and a substantial part of the infrastructure project resources are applied in this facility. The two new Cepids require an essential investment for the construction and maintainance of the new labs. The Center for Clinical Research was established in 2013 and is being implemented to promote appropriate quality and facilities for the development of clinical research. The resources from FAPESP infrastructure will bring means to keep the ongoing projects and the implementation of new projects promoting the quality and productivity of the FCM. (AU)
