Abstract

The Institutional Strategic Program of the School of Medical Sciences - University of Campinas (FCM-UNICAMP) promotes and encourages the scientific research and technological innovation, providing a university environment that fosters and enhances the human and intellectual development and scientific productivity for academic excellence. The FCM has established the following goals for invigorating the research activity: 1. To implement advanced knowledge for basic sciences and clinical research for life sciences 2. To promote the evaluation, synthesis and dissemination of scientific knowledge; 3. To reconcile the scientific knowledge with undergraduate and graduate studies through continuing educational programs. For the accomplishment of the mainstream of high quality investigation, the FCM needs suitable facilities in accordance with biosafety standards, providing wellbeing to the animals and to the researchers that develop activities in animal houses and laboratories and, appropriate facilities for the laboratories working with clinical and experimental research.The FCM has made continuous efforts to promote excellent scientific production. However, there is still an institutional gap in laboratories and animal facilities infrastructure to meet the international standards for genetic engineering animals and microorganisms.Therefore, the FCM has identified several characteristics, in the research facilities, that need continuous maintenance, preservation, inovation and the implementation of new areas. To achieve these goals, FCM is submitting to FAPESP, the 2015 Institutional Infrastructure Project, as part of the permanent efforts of our School, to promote intellectual progress in the research activities.
