Abstract

Environmental monitoring of water bodies has received special attention in recent decades, research in this context can provide data to support preventive and restoration actions through a methodology of systemic character in the scope of environmental planning at local and regional scales. The aim of this study is to carry out the monitoring of the dynamics of the permanent preservation area and suspended solids at Chavantes reservoir, São Paulo state - Brazil, using space-time modeling and biophysical indices. The scientific advance of this research is in statistical modeling using data from remote sensing for monitoring dynamics at reservoirs. The methodology was divided into two main stages: 1) Image processing of Landsat images from 1990, 2000, 2010, and 2020 by Google Earth Engine platform to obtain biophysical indices; 2) Use of statistical approaches to analyze the relationships of the biophysical indices at polygon scale and space-time moving polygons analysis of regions in terms of topology, size, distance, and direction of changes in the permanent preservation area and in the water body of reservoir. The methodology will be assessed visually and numerically. The main motivation for this proposal is the importance of new research methodologies for the diagnosis of environmental changes in the study area, as well as modeling by remote sensing and statistical models to support the analysis of landscape transformations specifically in the areas surrounding the lake, as well as the possible relationships between changes in LULC and the occurrence of suspended solids.
