Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda: pathways for structuring schools into sustainable educational spaces

Abstract

The general aim of this project is to investigate how, within the framework of the university-school partnership, actions can be developed based on the SDGs, with an emphasis on SDG 4 (Quality education), SDG 6 (Clean water and sanitation) and SDG 11 (Sustainable cities and communities), which would favor the structuring of schools into sustainable educational spaces. To this end, the project will be developed in partnership with three public schools in the city of São Carlos - SP and will be based on the Problem-Based Learning methodology and on theoretical contributions from scientific argumentation. Activities will be developed in a school-university partnership within the context of educational actions related to SDG 4, SDG 6 and SDG 11. The expected results are: (i) an Educational Guide involving actions for the school context, focused on teaching actions; (ii) a Book on Indicators for structuring sustainable schools, aimed at public managers; and (iii) articles in periodicals and papers at conferences. In addition to these, (iv) experimental systems aimed at teaching sustainability in educational contexts and other community spaces will be developed. At the end of the project, it is expected that the schools involved will become sustainable educational spaces and that the experiences acquired and the results obtained will contribute to the literature in the area, to the school community and to the managers involved in public policies. It is also expected that there will be a significant gain in knowledge for both school teachers and researchers on the subject of sustainable schools. (AU)
