Abstract

The Botucatu School of Medicine demonstrates a consistent commitment to strengthening, expanding, and advancing scientific research in cutting-edge fields of knowledge. This institutional commitment is evidenced by the growth and consolidation of the Experimental Research Unit (UNIPEX) and the Animal Experimentation Research Unit (UPEA). Both are fully shared-use facilities, equipped with scientific resources that are dedicated to advancing health research. The UNIPEX and UPEA research units are located on Botucatu campus, spanning over 14,000 square meters. They serve students and researchers of the School of Medicine, as well as other local units such as the School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, the Institute of Biosciences, the School of Agricultural Sciences, and other campuses of UNESP. Partner institutions also benefit through services supported by specialized technologists. With the continuous increase in the number and complexity of ongoing research projects, there is a growing demand for corrective maintenance of equipment that forms part of the laboratory and animal facility infrastructure used by students and researchers. Additionally, there is a need to replace computers used in the shared laboratories of Cellular and Molecular Biology. Air conditioning units are also required for the Research Support Office (EAP) of the School of Medicine. The goal is to ensure the proper functioning of these areas, which require logistical support and data management for the ongoing research at our institution. Therefore, the main objective of this proposal is to carry out corrective maintenance of equipment and acquire essential items for the laboratory areas and the Research Support Office. The project was developed in collaboration with the technical-scientific team of UNIPEX-UPEA, including members of the coordination team, the unit's management board, as well as representatives of researchers and technical-administrative staff. The decision to invest in this action was approved by the Research Office and the School's Board. (AU)
