Abstract

Unlike what has happened with other institutes and faculties at Unicamp, where there has been a proliferation of small animal facilities that are currently struggling to comply with the regulations governing laboratory animal use, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences wisely chose to have a single animal facility capable of meeting the needs of the faculty members. In addition to the physical infrastructure, the Faculty has two trained and experienced biotechnicians who ensure the full operation of this animal facility. With the approval of this proposal, the expansion of the animal experimentation facility and the change in classification from NB1 to NB2, in accordance with all national regulations governing this activity, will enable the expansion of research activities involving pathogenic microorganisms. This will promote scientific advancements and contribute to the development of new treatments and knowledge in the field. This upgrade ensures greater safety, efficiency, and strengthens the institution's commitment to biosafety and research excellence. This proposal is a collaborative initiative among all faculty members, providing support for future expansions whenever necessary. (AU)
