Abstract

This research project on Aristotelian philosophy aims at scrutinizing its main theses and at discussing the conceptual links its different disciplines or pragmateiai have one with another. This requires a clear understanding of the core of Aristotle's metaphysical decisions; particularly the role reason plays in its different uses, as theoretical, practical and productive reason. Aristotelian theses on being, predication, truth, and soul, in theoretical sciences, and action, deliberation, and choice, in practical sciences (ethics and politics), will have a leading part in our researches. Moreover, Aristotelian influence on and its use by later philosophers will also be examined so as to provide a perspective from which its intellectual inheritance as well as its own worth can be better assessed. The research team consists of seven university professors of philosophy, all currently engaged in discussing topics of Aristotelian and ancient Greek philosophy. They all have as common principle to search for conceptual clarity and to stress the metaphysical foundation of Aristotelian philosophy, in which they intend to base the topics studied. (AU)
