Abstract

The historic uncertainty of the social function of secondary education, resting on its well known precariousness, has been debated recently in a new light, when trying to outline what should be the profile of the worker capable of interacting both with the demands of a labor market transformed by the introduction of new Technologies, as well as a more democratic project of the society. With this preoccupation, this research aims to study qualitatively the interaction young worker/market/new technologies in the secondary and tertiary sectors, having as counterpoint more general tendencies in the employment structure in the country. The elements of analysis (mapping of cutting edge businesses and their organization, survey of qualifications and functions of the employees, their expectations and those of their employers and statistical market data) will be broached with pertinent instruments for each case and examined in comparison with the historical perspectives and with the macrostructural contradictions which have marked the country's development.
