Study of artificial chylomicrom metabolism in patients with the polycystic ovary syndrome

Abstract

Dyslipidemia is recognized as a risk factor for coronary artery disease. The delayed catabolism of chylomicrons happens before changes in plasma lipids, therefore, it is an earlier marker risk factor for cardiovascular disease. We will study twenty women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), ages between 18 - 35 years( 10 obese and 10 nonobese) and twenty normal women, for age and body mass index. The diagnostic of PCOS will be do according to the Rotterdam consensus.The lipid metabolism will be study through the determination of plasm lipid and lipoproteins and the chylomicron metabolism through the plasma kinetics of a chylomicron-like emulsion and the plasma lipolytic activity through the heparin test for determination of lipoprotein and liver lipase. All the profile will be correlate with a index of insulin sensitivity derived from the oral glucose tolerance test ( the area under the curve of insulin). (AU)
