Abstract

The main goal of this project is to characterize and study Self-Assembly Monolayer (SAM) formation by electrogravimetric techniques such as electroacustic admittance and quartz crystal microbalance. The self-assembly films to be studied are based on cystamine/glutaraldeyde build block with the glutaraldeyde acting as spacer between cystamine monolayer and protein. The lectins, the main class of protein to be studied, will be immobilized under glutaraldeyde and then its affinity to different carbohydrate will be characterized by the previous mentioned techniques. The affinity of proteins and carbohydrates will be evaluated specially by electroacoustic (admittance) admittance response of the transducer. (AU)
