Abstract

Gap junctions are communicating protein channels of the cell membrane, formed by proteins called connexins. The functional loss of the gap junctions has been correlated with the process of carcinogenesis, through the reduction in the communication capacity and alterations of the expression and localization of connexins. The DMBA is a carcinogen that triggers the development of mammary neoplasms, and has been used to the creation of chemical carcinogenesis models in mice. The aim of this project is to study the interference of the absence of one of the alleles of Cx43 gene in mammary carcinogenesis induced by DMBA. For this purpose, it is intended to administrate 9 mg/kg /mice, being 1 mg / week, to female mice Cx43 +/- or Cx43 +/+. The evaluation of the interference in the process will be done by the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the tumors, immunohistochemistry, Real-Time PCR and Western Blot. (AU)
