Abstract

DMBA is a carcinogen that induces the development of mammary neoplasms and has been used in models of chemical carcinogenesis in mice. A previous study performed at the Experimental and Comparative Oncology Lab at the Dept of Pathology of the School of Vet medicine and Animal Science of the USP has shown that doses of 1, 3, 6 and 9 mg per mouse induce mammary neoplasms in Balb/c mice. However, we know very little about these tumors. The objective of this project is to study the expression of receptors for estrogen, progesterone, e-cadherine, cytokeratins 5 and 14, vimentin, c-kitm PTEN and cell proliferation by immunohistochemistry. Tumors will be classified according to WHO and will be submitted to immunohistochemistry. We intend to better characterize these tumors and compare them with human or canine neoplasms. (AU)
