Abstract

Language acquisition and development are major milestones in child development. Knowing which language abilities are expected in each age range allows the identification of possible alterations during this process. The purpose of the present project is to trace the profile of normal language development of 120 subjects using the Test of Early Language Development (TELD-3, Hresko, Reid and Hammill, 1999), which was translated into Brazilian Portuguese by Giusti (2007). This profile will be the basis for a language development manual, which might be used, in the future, as reference for Speech-Language Pathology and correlated areas regarding language development, serving as an instrument to alert these professionals about the need for early intervention in developmental language disorders.
