Abstract According to the World Health Organization set up as newly born preterm babies those with gestational age below 37 weeks. Prematurity is considered a biological risk factor for the typical child development. The objectives of study compare the performance of children born prematurely (under 37 weeks) and typical of age (over 38 weeks) between four and five years eleven months, on the communicative performance and school performance. Will be evaluated 40 children with prematurity and 40 children born term with typical development matched according with age and sex. Will be interviewing their parents and it will be applied the MacArthur Communicative Development Inventories: First words and gestures, with their parents and teachers. The teachers, also, respond to the Observation script the student and evaluation form of early childhood education. The evaluation will be composed, also by Communicative Behavior Observation; Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test, Child Language Test ABFW - Vocabulary and Denver II Developmental Screening Test. Order to the testing procedures will follow the norms provided for in the handbooks for each instrument. Statistical analysis will consist of the application of different tests, such as: "t" Studant, Mann-Whitney; Paired "t" test; Spearman correlation coefficient and Wilcoxon, with values p < 0,05 significance.
