Abstract

The Word Health Organization (1) defines as preterm or premature (RNP) infants born with a gestational age below 37 weeks, and child underweight, as all that live born weighing less than 2,500 grams at birth. Prematurity is considered a risk factor for child development. This study was designed in order to compare the performance of preterm infants and term infants aged between one and two years for performance motor, language, cognitive and language. After meeting the ethical aspects will be evaluated 20 children with prematurity, 20 extremely premature infants and 40 term infants with typical development matched according to sex, socioeconomic level and chronological age. Initial interview will be held with the heads of children and applied the MacArthur Communicative Development Inventory: First words and gestures. The evaluation will consist of Communicative Behavior Observation, Developmental Screening Test II DENVER and Early Language Milestone Scale. For the analysis procedures will be followed the regulations set out in the manuals of each instrument. The evaluations will be filmed for later analysis. Statistical consist of application of different tests, depending on the quality of the variables. Thus, we used the following tests: "t" Studant, Mann-Whitney Test "t" test, Spearman correlation coefficient and Wilcoxon test. (AU)
