Abstract

Obesity has current character of universal epidemic and constitutes an important cause of death and associated diseases. The body mass index (BMI) is currently used in the orientation of treatment of the obesity and indications for bariatric surgery. However, BMI surveys the weight excess and does not concern the corporal fat (CF), which is the harmful factor in the obesity. The bioeletric impedance (BIA) surveys the percentage of CF (%CF) in simple and little onerous way. Not it exists in literature, until the moment, consistent information concerning which is %CF corresponding to BMI in order to be compatible with the lapsing of the surgical treatment, and nor from that the degree of %CF has relation with the appearance of co-morbidities. Objectives: To perform a system of support to the diffuse logic decision for indication of bariatric surgery, constructed to the light of the logic fuzzy and evaluating IMC and of %GC gotten through the BIA and the presence of co-morbidities. Methods: Prospective study. Sample of 300 patients or more, placed according to sex, BMI, BIA and co-morbidities. The results will be analyzed evaluating superposition between BMI, BIA and co-morbidades according to boolean theory and also according to theory of the sets of diffuse (fuzzy) logic. The parametric variable will be analyzed by the tests t-Student and ANOVA and the variable with free distribution will be treated by the chi-square test (x2). For evaluation of the diffuse data the Matlab program will be used. (AU)
