Abstract

Obesity is considered an epidemic disease, represented by the excessive accumulation of adipose tissue and it is related to several genetic and environmental causes. Studies indicate that the energy balance, determined by energy intake and energy expended, seems to depend on 40% of genetic inheritance. The main objective of the study is check the expression of genes ADBR3, CPUs, PLIN, PPAR”2, related to obesity in subcutaneous adipose tissue and associate it with measures of resting metabolic rate in obese individuals grade III. The sample will be composed of 20 individuals, a control group of 10 women with normal weight and another group with 10 obese individuals grade III of mixed population, females, aged between 18 and 60 years, candidates for bariatric surgery, with undergoing regular monitoring in Bariatric Surgery Clinic HCFMRP-USP. The classification of nutritional status will be made by the Body Mass Index (BMI), and, thereafter, will be submitted to evaluation of body composition by the bioelectrical impedance analysis method of resting metabolic rate (RMR), by means of indirect calorimetry, and analysis of gene expression by the quantitative PCR method in real time. After six months the participants submitted to bariatric surgery will be reassessed and the results compared between the control group and pre and post surgical procedure. (AU)
