Abstract

Concentrated feed is used in feedlot to improve quality of the final product and is an economically interesting alternative to meat producers. The objective of this work is to evaluate the digestibility of diets with oil grain for lambs in feedlot, as well as lamb ingestive behavior fed with these diets. Twenty four crossbred lambs with three months and 18kg of body weight will be used. These animals will be housed in individual pens, in completely randomized design with four treatments and six repetitions, as follow: control diet without grain, diet with whole cottonseed, sunflower or soybean. To evaluate diet digestibility, feces are collected daily for five days using collecting bags adapted to animals. Feed offered, remains and feces will be sampled daily and frozen to posterior chemical analysis. In the half of the experimental period the individual animal ingestive behavior will be evaluated in every 10 minutes for 24 hours. (AU)
