Abstract
The objective of this study is to investigate the knowledge and attitude of women and men who attend public health services in the city of Campinas, São Paulo, and gynecologists and pediatricians from the same health services regarding the human papilloma virus (HPV) and vaccines against this virus, available in Brazil. Methods: It will be interviewed 287 women and 251 men who are waiting to be attended at the public health services. Around 315 gynecologists and pediatrician from the public health services will also be invited to participate. Four structured, pretested questionnaires will be used to obtain information. Data analysis: Data will be processed and analyzed using the SPSS software program, version 11.5. Initially, a simple descriptive analysis will be carried out using frequency distribution; next, a bivariate analysis will be performed to test the association between the socioeconomic variables and variables referring to the knowledge and attitude of the women and gynecologists with respect to HPV and the vaccine.
