Special programme for integrated circuit manufacturing abroad: phase 6

Abstract

Through this project are requested to FAPESP resources for payment of services of prototype manufacture of integrated circuits abroad over a period oftwo years, continuing an action to encourage research and training ofhuman resources in integrated circuit design started in 1994 with the first phase of the Special Programme for Integrated Circuit Manufacturing Abroad. The program has been renewed five times over a period of 15 years, always with the goal of allowing the manufacture of integrated circuits targeted research projects developed in various research groups of universities in the state of Sao Paulo working in this field. The program enables the fulfillment of a key requirernent in this particular field of expertise in science and technology which is the experimental confirmation of the ideas and proposals. The lack of experimental evidence in integrated circuit design not only inhibits research in the area but also reduces the value and reduces the competitiveness of the academic work done, resulting in more severe depletion ofhuman resources training in the area.
