Abstract

The Project aims to build a new platform for the study of trade regulation through two main databases: the first one related to trade regulation; and the second one, related to economic data and instruments of commercial policy. The Regulation Database shall assemble and organize the agreements of each regulatory system, accordingly with the multisytemic proposed approach. The Economic Database will allow the economic modeling of international regulation and its mechanisms, such as tariffs, non-tariff barriers, trade remedies and rules of origin. The systematization of rules will be based on the concept of global trade, which amplifies activities of export and import to reflect the concerns of global governance, such as currency, investments, antitrust, environment and climate, labor standards and human rights. The construction of the platform shall begin by the multilateral system, including the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the case law of the Dispute Settlement Body. In the following, the rules of the main preferential agreements shall be assembled, including regional agreements, bilateral and non-preferential agreements, which became important sources of regulation. Finally, the research shall include the national systems of Brazil's key partners (EU, US, China, India and South Africa). To enhance the multidisciplinary character of global trade, both juridical and economical aspects shall be included. The aim of building a systematized platform for the study of trade regulation is to disclosure a broad base of rules and economic data to researchers of the area: academics, governmental agents or private actors.
