Abstract

Os processos de tratamento de esgoto, em maioria, não removem ou inativam microrganismos patogênicos. Considerado os usos múltiplos da água e o risco associado ao reuso direto e indireto do efluente e a possibilidade de aplicação do lodo no solo, é necessário avaliar a qualidade microbiológica e parasitológica desses efluentes e lodo não somente em relação à presença ou ausência, mas principalmente em relação à inativação dos organismos patogênicos, no caso Giardia spp e Cryptosporidium spp., e de microrganismos indicadores (Escherichia coli, Clostridium perfringes e colifagos).A pesquisa será realizada em unidades piloto e de laboratório tendo como afluente o esgoto do campus da USP São Carlos. Será avaliada a remoção dos microrganismos indicadores e patogênicos objeto de estudo da fase líquida e avaliada a quantidade transferida para a fase sólida (lodo), nas unidades reator UASB, lodo ativado, tratamento físico-químico, filtro lento, desinfecção com cloro, radiação ultravioleta e ozônio, e a desinfecção sequencial cloro/UV, ozônio/cloro e ozônio/UV.
