Abstract

The interface between bone and implant has been studied by many authors. Factors involved in the failure of endosseous implants such as surgical planning, early loading, poor bone quality, smoking, plus the inclusion of biomaterial in a potentially contaminated field allow the failure. The maintenance of healthy bone/implant interface depends on factors related to the response of bone tissue, the biomechanical aspects of the transfer of masticatory loads to the implant and peri implants structures and also the control of peri implant microflora. Technological innovations such as the treatment of the implant surface brought a lot of benefits and also showed increased susceptibility to bacterial contamination and difficulties of treatment in case of peri-implant disease. Clinical trials are essential for scientific validation of the technological development models "in vitro" forward implementing these proposals. Thus, the experiments with cells culture enables the understanding of biological phenomena in the interaction and control of the interface between bone, implant and peri-implant tissue. This study will evaluate the alterations of the surface of abutments used in implantology with the intention of promoting a surface with antimicrobial character from the incorporation of silver particles using nanotechnology. The evaluation will be promoted on titanium disks with and without this coverage, analysis of cell culture with osteoblasts and fibroblasts, beyond the microbiological analysis on its surface, testing three different concentrations.
