Pineapple fertigation

Abstract

Despite the economic importance of culture, experimentation with fertilization or fertigation of pineapple is small in Brazil and, even less, in São Paulo. The research problem to be addressed in this project is to increase the efficiency of N and K fertilization to pineapple by fertigation on cultivation conditions of São Paulo. The hypothesis to be tested is that irrigation and split application of fertilizers according to the needs of culture (fertigation) increase production per area, fertilizer efficiency and improve fruit quality. In a field experiment, the application of nitrogen and potassium fertilizers through fertigation will be compared with soil application in a conventional manner. The experiment will be installed in the region of Bauru, São Paulo with Smooth Cayenne cultivar. The treatments will be fractions of the fertilizer recommendation (50% and 100% of the recommended rate) applied via soil, with and without irrigation and through fertigation. It will be assessed the economicity and the effects of treatments in soil and plants (nutrition, growth, development and production). (AU)
